I am an athlete with bad asthma... help. |
I am a competitive swimmer and I am also going to try Cross Country this year but I have really bad asthma. I haven't been to swim practice in a long time because of asthma (the practices are BRUTAL) and I had to take a break or something serious could have happened to me if I didn't. Well I am gaining weight because I have a very high metabolism and I eat and eat and eat. And I am also a very good runner. But I tried jogging once around the block(1/2 mile) and I had an attack. Cross Country starts the 13th and I need a cure, I love working out and those are the sports I do. What sould I do, I want my asthma gone... =[ I am sorry to hear about your asthma! I would recommend seeing a pulmonary specialist that deals with respiratory disorders and ask about getting put on a steroid of some kind(such as advair or pulmicort) that might help prevent attacks. There is no cure for asthma, but you can control it well with the right medication. Good luck! It really sucks i know i had to give up sports, but if you are not taking a daily medicine you should go to the doctor and get asthmanex and or singular i started taking these both at the same time and i was actually able to exercise but always keep your inhaler with you. Another thing you could ask your doc tor about is taking to puffs of your inhaler before exercise. carry an inhaler |
