Could caffeine make my asthma symptoms worse?

I have heard somewhere that asthmatics should not drink a lot of caffeine because it could make our symptoms worse. I wanted to know if this is true. I do drink energy drinks quite often, and I know that they have a lot of caffeine. On those days when my symptoms are bad, should I avoid drinking caffeine? Or does caffeine not affect a person's asthma?

well i searched and this is what i found

First, Caffeine is also called methylxanthines, Theobromine and Theophylline, all have been used over the years to treat asthma. Also because hot coffee will help to relax the bronchial tubes and make it easier to breath. At least but not last, coffe are fluids, asthmatics should drink a lot of water to help to keep the lungs moist. But some of people find that their body are not suitable for coffee cure. They think caffeine make asthma worese and then they have severe asthma. So those people who find it has no help when they drink coffee, please stop and check, if possible, the medicine is a better choice.

I've never heard that one before and I'm a 28 year asthmatic. I have been told that in case of symptoms (and you don't have meds) to drink either 2 cups of strong coffee or hot tea. The only thing that I stay away from during symptom times is dairy products since they help out in the mucus making department and I like energy drinks also. Hope this helped!

I've also heard that carbonated drinks (assuming the caffeine you drink is from carbonated beverages) reduce your lung capacity! Yikes!

yes, caffeine can make the symptoms worse.
