Asthma and Gym arent pals?

Asthma sucks, whenever I have to run I end up almost always having an asthma attack and my inhaler I couldnt count on it. Even if it does work its usally only for a few minutes before my asthma rears up again, and I am dreading the wait for the 15minute run.

Keep working and exercising. Your lungs adapt quickly to the amount of exercise you do. From my own experience, if I run 3 times a week, my lungs usually let me run two miles straight after about 2 weeks. Asthmatics have to work harder to stay in shape, but consider it a blessing in disguise because you have a huge incentive to keep in shape! A good, healthy set of lungs will do more for your quality of life than a medicine cabinet full of inhalers and meds.

I have asthma and yes it can be very hard to do physical activities. You must physically active to stay healthy. My gym teachers understood and I was able to pace myself. My parents also went to school and talked with coaches and gym teachers and explained my condition. Asthma didn't stop me and don't let it stop you. I didn't start out running hard, I did a very slow jog and you know in a few weeks I was able to keep up with the class when we had to run. Take your time and if you have to stop then do so. I find that it can help if you take a puff or two at least 20 minutes before you start gym class that you'll be able to do more without being so tired and winded. Also google Jackie Joyner-Kersee. Asthma does not have to control your life. You control it. Also keeping water with you helps. Take your time, do your best and pace yourself. You will be ok. Before you know it you kick but in gym. Smooches
