Asthma and beta-blockers and Vix?

Hello, please help me. I saw a herbalist person today in the UK, He has prescribed me with beta blockers for my chest pain and asthma.

I paid 拢75 for the session. I'm a little confused because he told me to take vix and cough medicine suppressant for my asthma to stop the mucous, my asthma isn't good.

OMG

Where do I start? Reading your story is both worry and concerning, demonstrating the clear problem with unqualified people attempting to prescribe medication to manage Asthma when actually it could be detrimental and in some cases fatal if done without the correct medical knowledge... You CANNOT play around with Asthma.

Giving beta blockers to people with Asthma can be potentially fatal. Also HOW has a herbalist prescribed you with beta blockers? You have to be a qualified Dr to write prescriptions, where have these been obtained from?

What do you mean he told you to use Vicks and cough medicine? These are at best useless and at worst can actually induce bronchial spasm and can have a bad effect on Asthmatics generally ..making them more wheezy etc. On NO account use Vicks or any other inhalations of this kind.

Cough medicines are of no use to anyone. The suppressant that he has advised you to take is especially not good for asthmatics to take. Coughing is basically the bodies natural way to remove/dislodge mucous and debris from the lungs, by suppressing this, it can theoretically increase the risk of secondary bacterial infection due to stasis. It's vital you DO not do this, being that when you have asthmatic episodes you will produce excess mucous.

To conclude; Lose the charlatan and any Vick's/ syrups/cough medicines you have been given and under NO circumstances take the beta blockers (why did he give you them in the first place? are you having heart issues? This really isn't something a Herbalist can treat or diagnose!). If your Asthma has worsened, please see your GP or Dr (tonight if your Asthma is bad) You may require a short course of Prednisolone to get your Asthma back under control.. then it sounds like to me you need your medication reviewing and your cause of chest pains needs to be investigated and treatment given accordingly by your GP.

And he charged you 拢75 per session.? (!!)

Beta blockers are absolutely contraindicated in asthma. They can precipitate potentially fatal status asthmaticus. No cough medicines ever contribute to asthma management, suppressants allowing mucous to accumulate in the lung bases and increase the risk of secondary bacterial infection.Vick's,as it says on the label, should also not be used in asthmatics.
