Asthma?? Could I have it?

Hi,

Every so often, I get this tightness in my chest and when I breathe it feels like no air is really gettting to my lungs. I talked it over with my dad whose a nurse and he said it was nothng.

It goes away wwwhen I take a deep breath and hold it. Yes, I do have allergies. I does happen more when I exercise. Also, when I exercise, I get shortness of breath really fast. I don't have panak attacks either.

You might, Its hard when you first experience asthma, sometimes you can't really tell what it is because you don't know what it feels like.

I would ask you a couple questions, like how soon does it go away? And have you had allergies in the past like hay fever? Usually when you get an asthma attack, it stays for awhile. Like if I had an attack, at night, it would last most of the night and in the morning be gone.

Does this tightness happen more when your running or exercising?
it's hard to exercise when you have asthma.

If it gets worse or lasts an hour or more, that would be the time to see the doctor so you can get an inhaler. Even if you don't use the inhaler all the time, it's good to have one on hand.

its quite possible that its asthma..

if your having a panic attack at the time that you feel your chest tightening.. id say it was just the panic attack and to find ways of calming yourself down.

asthma is really common.. are you getting the symptoms from the same causes? like after doing something active, being near a pet or certain perfumes?

id pop along to see your doctor, they will probably give you an inhailer to use to help your symptoms, if they are good they will make you an appointment with the asthma nurse who can do more thorough tests.

my asthma was diagnosed by me just telling the doctor that sometimes i got out of breath and breathing became more difficult. they gave me inhailer there and then.

if you have any food allergies or suffer hayfever asthma is even more likely!
