My son has RSV when he was 4 months old and now he is 6 with sereve asthma and has to take nebulizer treatments offen. He has been in the hospital last year cause the he got pnomian and the asthma acted up causing part of his right lung to collaspe due to muscus plugs. And everytime he gets sick it is worse in his right lung. Could him having RSV as a baby contribute to him havin asthma today???
Yes, studies have shown that children who get a bad enough case of RSV can have reactive airways disease (asthma falls in this category) as a result.

I am a respiratory therapist. RSV can cause bronchial system diseases such as bronchopneumonia and bronchiolitis. A child who contracts bronchiolitis is likely to develop asthma later in life.
