I really want to join the army. But i have minor asthma?


I had asthma when i was about 6 i got it. Im now 17 and i think i may have grown out of it but im not sure. If i do still have it its very minor. Would i still be able to join if i have minor asthma. I also run everyother day without the use of and inhaler or anything and i feel fine???

Don't believe her. The Army has lowered the standards for asthma.

Sorry to be blunt, but that's life!

It is on your medical records, if you have had just one attack that is the end of it as far as any forces are concerned!
I am in the military and I know there are so many people that get in with more wrong with them than that!! Most of the time people just don't say anything! Even I was diagnosed with it and I have almost finished my enlistment!

Can't see why a little bit of Asthma would rule you out. Intelligence, cunning, courage, common sense... they are all elements needed as a UK solider too.

You can get in BUT if it's found out later on that you had asthma before you joined, you'll get a dishonorable medical discharge.

A suggestion would be for you to see your doctor & find out if you've outgrown the asthma or it's still a minor lung concern. Even minor/mild asthma can flare up & you'll need a resuce inhaler. Better safe than choking! If the doctor's test come back clear, then you could apply to the military without worries.
i have it too and i smoke(not weed) dont let anything stop you but you know where you are going if you join the army but you should be fine good luck.
