Before modern medicine, what did people do when they had an asthma attack?

Also, what did people do when they had major allergic reactions to things such as peanuts or bee stings?

asthma was not as fluent then as is it now the air we breath the foods we eat are polluted also from my research asthma has only been a real problem in the last fifty years ill see what i can find out for you and myself
They either lived or died...eventually, they died.
they put leaches on there elbows and feed them potatoes.
Probably got really sick or died
That's a good question.. I imagine those people didn't last very long.. I know I wouldn't. When I am without my inhaler I usually drink coffee and relax and the attack sometimes goes away... I wonder if they thought of drinking coffee?
