What is the best thing to take for bronchitis and/or asthma? |
other than antibiotics. How often do you get bronchitis? How long does it last? What is your age and when did this problem first occur? Do you or someone in your home or office smoke? Do you have chest tightness when not having bronchitis? What antibiotics have you used and for how many days? How soon after the bronchitis do you see a doctor? You may need to see a pulmonologist and have breathing tests done. Depending on those results is treatment. Get annual flu shots and also a pneumonia shot (one time). Augmentin 875 twice a day for 10 days or Zithromax 250 for 8 pills is uaually best. Mucinex-DM (or guaifenisen-DM RX AND cheaper same drug) helps quiet the cough and promote losening up the mucus. Profentil HFA is a good short acting bronchodilator when your breathing is tight. Flovent is a good steroid inhaler. But I don't know if your breathing problems are only related to the bronchitis or year round. Please answer some of my questions. Don't neglect asthma (if you have it) and allow it to grow in intensity. Treatment after no treatment becomes more difficult since the bronchial tubes permanently change. SWIMMING. STAY INDOORS. self Living in cities can make these conditions worse. I had a lot of problems with recurring sickness and allergies, and they all went away when I gave up pop. Aspartame is put in diet pop. Coca cola puts it in everything they bottle. Give up aspartame and you might see a big improvement. prevention first keep dust to a minimum as well as dog/cat fur etc.....don't use rugs or shampoo them regularly or just buy new regularly.... get a humidifier to put moisture in the air as soon as I start to feel "clogged" in my nasal passages, I use nose spray (over the counter)...I also take an antihistamine at night (it works while I sleep) as my asthma is triggered more by allergies....I have three cats and two dogs and this has worked for me.....if i should have trouble breathing (asthma) then I use my inhaler....if it should develop into bronchitis, then antibiotics are the only recourse as bronchitis can easily go to pneumonia...hope that helps. If you have asthma with wheezing a bronchodilator helpful. An inhaled steroid helps with the inflammed and irritated airways. Both require a perscription, so you need to see a Dr. a good allergy medicine , your asthma meds and humidified air |
