Neighbors smoking outside our window and smoke is seeping in....what can be done to stop this (I'm have Asthma?

We live in our apartment

Will the office do anything to stop this? What about management?

I really don't want to die

Our neighbors have started smoking right in front of our living room window....well they leave the lit cigarette buts in the dry brush but whats worse even with the window closed the smoke seems to seep in......and they are out there all the time.

Sasha has smelled it then jumped up on the edge of the couch (we keep the blinds closed so she isn't constantly barking at everyone who walks by) and she starts barking like crazy and that usually runs them off but they come back.

The problem is my asthma. You see my asthma is set off by cigarette smoke and its getting into our apartment.

Tonight I spent almost 3 hours at an Urgent Care clinic for an awful asthma attack that was smoke induced.

I'm still getting over it.

If it weren't for Sasha (My Terrier Mix) constantly scaring them off it would have been worse but is there anything we can do to stop this?

They are leaning against our window and smoking and flicking it in the bushes.

Its great their apartment doesn't smell like cigarette smoke but they shouldn't make ours.

Also I caught them twice....letting their dog poop and not cleaning it up infact they just scooted it under the bushes.

We have pictures of both the piles of dog poop and the cigarette butts (and the lit cigarette butts)

Do you think anything can be done. My breathing still is going to be out of whack for awhile.

I'm just grateful for Sasha she didn't let anybody smoke out there today.....and she wouldn't leave my side either.

Report this IN WRITING to your apartment managers and keep a copy. Give them one week to deal with the problem. Then send them a second letter that describes the problems again and state that if they are unable or unwilling to deal with this situation your medical situation will make it necessary for you to move. Attach a supporting note or letter from your doctor. Tell them that the letter will serve as your 30 days notice to vacate the apartment unless the landlord is willing to deal with the problem.

This should be enough to allow you to break your lease.

Seal the window. The owner would be responsible to do that even if no one was smoking.

This is a Public Health issue and yes I would report it to all who would listen; try calling the Police to report them for disturbing the peace if nothing else..make sure your windows are closed or make a concerted effort to slam (if open) them as hard as you can when they are out there..

You can definitely report it and see what happens. Or, why not bake some cookies and take them to your neighbor and explain the situation? Most likely they will understand. They may just not realize you have asthma and the dog poo...well, sometimes people just don't pay attention to the fact people do have a sense of smell!

If they rent an apartment too, and it is all on the same property they would, of course, have the same right to the property as you. Whether it is front of your window or theirs.

Wow..I REALLY wish you would move next door to me. i smoke like a fiend, but I would be polite and light up my charcoal grill every day instead.
But no fear...We're all going to die from something someday.

You've written this dribble several times before and I'm sure you would like nothing more than to have all smokers arrested, locked into forced labor detention facilities or shot.
Good thing you're alive now because 40 years ago you would have been dead already.. Get a life for Christ sake.. Better yet, Pray!

I don't know where you live or if there are any smoking rules or laws for your area or apt. complex. But, have you simply tried to talk with your neighbors about your asthma and their smoke aggravating it? Sometimes, communication is the easiest solution to the problem.

Deal with the smoke problem and ignore the dog poop problem or they might cause you a problem due to your dog's barking.
