My 6 yr old daughter has asthma and this morning she woke up with a barking sound cough? |
does anybody no if she is just coming done with a cold or is it her asthma acting up should i take her to the doctors This is croup. My daughter gets it every year and she has asthma too. Take her to the doctor so that she can get on some antibiotics. I would just call her doctor, and see what he/she says and then if it gets worse, I would take her to the doctor. My daughter has asthma and she is on Singulair and Advair Diskus, and she is fine, Even when she gets a cold. But I would definitely check with the doctor, because you don't want her to have an asthma attack, even if it's just a cold. Hope this helps!!! I just saw your question and tried to e-mail you to know how your daughter is doing. I'm sure you brought her to see a doctor by now. I had bronchitis all my life and have been quite sick. It seems that I also have asthma. I have 3 children and my son who's 9 has asthma and bronchitis. My grandmother and her brother had it too. It runs in the family. What you described sounds like croup to me and it worried me when I read the question. When treated, it's ok but you can't wait. I remember that when I was six, I woke up in the middle of the night and I couldn't breathe, I was coughing non stop and I felt like my heart was stopping. At the time they gave me antibiotics and said it was bronchitis. Well, I'm 47 and still here. My grandmother lived to be almost 97. My cousin has a son who had croup as a younger child and now that he is 14, he's fine. I just thought it would feel better to be reassured. It has to be taken seriously when it happens though. You're a good mother to be worried enough to ask the question. If you would e-mail me, I would really like to know how your little girl is doing. minou It could be the asthma or croup .... time to visit the doctor .... Yes. Is she has asthma and a barking cough, call your doctor's office and tell them. Keep a humidifier on in her room, but call your child's doctor. That sounds like bronchitis, or bronchial asthma. She should see a doctor, as she will be very tired, needing rest and lots of fluids. |
