Asthma medicine. . . .. . . . ... . .. .?

Prednesol steriods? Anyone else been prescribled these?

I was just wondering as I have been taking them on and off for life, everytime I have an asthma attack or the like, the doctor prescribes them . . A course of like 6 tables for 2 days, 5 for 2 days, 4 for 2 days etc. . I have taken them multiple times a year. .

I am 20 years old now and I still get regular occurences of asthma. It is quite severe.

But. . now I have just been wondering about them. . as they are steriods they cant be good for me. .

As you said, you are a doctor, can you tell me some of the side effects from taking this medication so frequently?

Your doctor may have prescribed a short course of steroids for an exacerbation not controlled by your usual medications. And occasionally some people need to take daily steroids in addition to their inhaled medications to control their asthma. But if you don't understand why your doctor prescribed these you should ask them. And if you don't feel confident that your doctor is making the right decisions regarding your health you should see another health care professional.

Im on them 2, been prescribed them 3 times usually 8 a day for a week or 2, then off a month then the same. Not sure of the side effects, but sometimes it can cause depression and scary thoughts according to my doctor.
