Could I get a waiver for my asthma?

I've had asthma since I was about 5, but it never really affected me, and I have never gotten an attack. If I were to join a branch, could they disqualify me?

Asthma after the 13th birthday is a permanent disqualification. If you haven't had any documented attacks or treatment since you turned 13 you are good but if not you can forget about joining.

Yes, you could and probably will be disqualified.

If you talk to a recruiter, however, he will most likely tell you to lie about it.

The recruiting system sucks for honest people because as long as recruiters tell people to lie to MEPS, many will lie and get away with it, making it very unlikely that the standards will ever be lowered.

Yes, fraudulent enlistment is a crime, and if you are dependent on an inhaler to function normally in athletics, you could find yourself in a world of **** when you get to basic training.

they would give you a lung power type test thing. If you pass you can join if you fail you get DQed. Dont tell them you HAVE asthma tell them you HAD childhood asthma. (if you tell them anything. You could just not say anything and join but you might regret it during boot depending on how ur asthma is)

if you have been officially diagnosed since the day of your 13th birthday you are DQed for life.any non official diagnosis or any official diagnosis before 13 is waiverable.

asthma past your 13th Bday is a PDQ no waivers authorized.

Sorry NO...you cannot get a waiver for Asthma...

if it's serious enough yes they can
