Is there ANY possible way to get accepted or do they already accept people with asthma in the Navy? |
I would REALLY REALLY like to join the military. But I have asthma so. I have already checked if the Marines, Army, and Air Force accept people with asthma and they don't know so this is my only option left. It depends on what kind of asthma you have. If you haven't had it since 12, that can be cleared up with a letter from your doctor at MEPS and you're good to go. If you've had it since then, you will have to put in a for a waiver and have a pulmonary function test to show that you have no trouble with it anymore. Whether you get your waiver depends on what the test shows and how bad the Navy wants you. If your asthma is still controlled by an inhaler, that's a permanent disqualification (unless you lie about it... and don't do that, it's dangerous and stupid). Doubt it...when you get into the Military you go to a single MEPS (military entrance processing station) regardless of branch. Those are where you see the doctors, and as far as I know asthma is an automatic DQ. You could not tlel them but if you have issues in Basic you'll get discharged and lying is a felony. How do you expect to get through basic training with asthma. How could you serve on the battle field of in a emergency that required physical stamina I would mot want someone like that to have to back me up. I'm a Navy Fleet Marine Force Corpsman with the USMC and I have asthma. It all depends on what kind you have. Mine's not exercise induced, it's stress induced, so give it a shot. All branches are the same, they will not accept anyone with asthma after the age of 13. It is an automatic disqualification. asthma past your 13th Bday is a PDQ, no waivers authorized. for ALL five Branches. i think its cool you want to serve our nation and i hope you find a way to do so best of luck on this |
