My doctor prescribed me doxycycline and metronidazole for Bacterial Vaginosis...?

On the bottle of doxycycline it says to not lay down for at least 30 minutes after taking it, does anyone know why? Has anyone ever taken either of these medications? Do they make you vomit?

Doxy can make you vomit the reason you cannot lie down is to revent acid reflux, trust me you don't want that

They can make you extremely nauseated. And I know that from personal and by proxy experience - they can make you so nauseated that it can lead to vomiting. Doxycycline, I know, is an extremely powerful antibiotic. I don't know much about metronidazole, never having taken it myself.

I have used both of these medications before. The reason for the not lying down for 30 minutes after you take some medications like Doxycycline is because when you try to lie down so soon after taking it it could cause a back up causing coughing to occur.

I had it happen to me one time when I forgot to sit up for the 30 minutes before trying to lie down again.

As for the Doxycycline (and other antibiotics can do this) can cause nausea and vomitting if you don't eat something beforehand or like I have to do when I'm on antibiotics (depending on the kind, because some you can't take with milk) I take them with a glass of milk.

I have taken the metronidazole and it gives you this metallic taste in your mouth its so gross. That was the only one I prescribed and it didn't make me sick at all, but the other one I have no clue about

acid reflux is the correct answer
