I've been diagnosed with Bacterial Vaginosis. Please answer my question...!?

My doctor said its because im having sex too much. I have sex every other day. I am currently on medication for 7days. After I finish the meds, can i have sex again? I don't get it, basically i can never have sex again?! oh yea, and im trying to get pregnant.

You do NOT get BV from having sex too much, although it can sometimes contribute. Other contributing factors can include douching, a history of STDs and tampon usage.

Being treated for BV doesn't mean you can never have sex again. Chances are that you may never have another problem. Taking precautions such as using an oral acidophilus supplement might also help.

One piece of advice however: If you feel uncomfortable with your doctor, CHANGE. It's YOUR body, and if you feel weird with a certain doctor you have every right in the world to seek care & advice from another.

Of course you can have sex.

I am not entirely sure that your doctor is correct about Bacterial Vaginosis being related to too much sex. I'll go check it.

Okay, it's total bull that you would get bacterial vaginosis from too much sex; you misinterpreted your doctor. What could have happened is that you have rough sex/too much friction. In this case, I would suggest you use plenty of lube (plenty=a few drops), which you can buy anywhere that sells medication (Safeway, WalMart, adult boutiques, etc.).

When having sex, it is very important that there is plenty of lubrication because "dry sex" leads to tiny scratches in the vagina that become infected very easily. This is why most doctors recommend 20 mins or so of foreplay before sex, but lube is much easier!

Men have no affect on women getting BV, men are not carriers nor are they affected by BV. It is caused by an imbalance of your PH levels, which causes the good vs. bad bacteria in your vagina to go crazy. I have had BV on and off for about 1 1/2 - 2 years, regardless of whether or not my boyfriend and I have sex a lot or a little, I consistently get BV again after my period. For about a year, I would go to the doctor and get antibiotics...I got tired of doing this once a month and tried an over the counter product called RePhresh and it works! You would need to read the box to see if it is safe for pregnant women. Unfortunately, BV pretty much has to resolve itself. I believe tampons do not help in getting the problem to go away, I have a hard time resisting using them though.

I would not listen to your doctor when he says you have sex too much though, that is NOT true. Regardless of whether or not I have had sex once or 6 times before my period, I still get BV.
