Bacterial vaginosis? do i have it?!?

do you have to get bacterial vaginosis from doing sexually active stuff with somebody? like getting fingered? because if i have that then i dont wanna tell my mom to take me to the doctor and her ask how i got it and tell her oh ya i got fingered. ya not a good idea. i just need to know if i can tell her its something else. i just have that fishy odor but nothing hurts or burns or itches. and ive had it since monday? and just got fingered on friday.

well sweetie, you can get it from not properly wiping (back to front instead of front to back). You can also get it from not keeping that area clean. But most of the time you get it from sexual activity.

Not getting it treated can be very harmful. It can cause a serious infection that could make you infertal (not able to have children later in life). It can also lead to other things such as Cancer or even Death!

IT IS NOT SOMETHING YOU WANT TO LEAVE UNTREATED. YOU NEED A DOCTOR TO CHECK IT OUT AND GIVE YOU THE PROPER MEDICINE. TALK TO YOUR MOM...I BET SHE WILL BE MORE SUPPORTIVE THAN YOU THINK. IN FACT, SHE'LL BE HAPPY YOU CAME TO HER!

you might.but your hormones could also just be a little whacky, which can make it smell different.chances are you didnt get it from getting fingered.you can get a yeast infection from a number of things:anitbiotics, baths, using anti-bacterial wash down there, being sick.there are a lot of ways of throwing off the natural bacteria in your vagina.
read this:If this is an infection, did I catch it from someone?
No. Bacterial vaginosis is an overgrowth of bacteria that are normally in the vagina. While it's more common in women who are sexually active, it also occurs in women who are not sexually active. It's not usually necessary for your sex partner to be treated.

Firstly, usually there are free clinics you can go to in your area who can give you an exam and NOT have to get parent's permission depending on your age. Otherwise, it could be fungal or could be something else. You need to get it checked. If it turns out to only be yeast. Go on a bit of a yeast diet and check out some sites on the subject. Otherwise you'll have to go to a free-sliding scale/ clinic or your regular doctor. You don't want to chance having it get way worse!!

"Certain factors have been identified that increase the chances of developing bacterial vaginosis. These include multiple or new sexual partners, vaginal douching, and cigarette smoking. However, the role of sexual activity in the development of the condition is not fully understood, and bacterial vaginosis can still develop in women who have not had sexual intercourse."

Hun, you can get a "yeast infection" from a lot of things. You could have wiped wrong even. Have you been on antibiotics? Those cause it too. Don't worry, tell your mom you think something is wrong and what your symptoms are and get rid of it before it gets annoying.
