I have Bacterial Vaginosis. I've been taking Flagyl for 6 days, but..? |
I have a bacterial infection and have been taking flagyl for 6 days now... (supposed to take for 7), but there is still lots of discharge. The odor has decreased some......but Im getting aggravated with the problem. So is it possible that it may not go away for a few days til after you have finished the treatment? My pap smear came back clean and I have no other conditions or any STD'S. Yes, it is possible it will not get better till a week or so after meds. The meds help get the bacteria in check, but then the body still has to reset everything. Try to avoid antibacterial soaps, this can cause and aggravate this. Try to stick with sensitive soaps that are not antibacterial like Dove sensitive soap. I had this problem too...What it is is the "bad" bacteria wipes out any "good" bacteria that causes the infection. Sometimes people need to take the meds for a longer period you to get the "good" bateria back. You should go back to the dr. and let them know that you are still having problems and they can but you on something else..Maybe the flagyl which is an oral med isn't working. They can give you a vaginal cream that works. You may of took a dose wrong- possibly eating before or after it to soon? Food can kill the effects of antibiotics. You may need a whole new dose. You may of had a clean pap smear, but that don't meen you don't have other probs (cysts, fibroids). For so many years I was given medication for a dam yeast infection and that infection was really caused by non-cancerous growths. I finally got a good doctor who helped me with those and it stopped! Beware. |
