Bacterial Vaginosis ?? |
hiya i have just been given this clindamycin vaginal cream to insert to try and get rid of bacterial vaginosis as the metronidazole did not work - has anybody getting rid of bv by using this cream ??? or has anybody getting rid of bv another way - i only got it after my miscarriage and now i cant get rid of it thanxs xxx I have used both creams and found that they both worked about the same. Every woman's body is different so your reaction to the (Metro Gel) may be normal for you. It has been provin that the the gels/creams such as Clindamycin do put you at risk for yeast infections. KInd of redundant to treat one problem only to acquire another. Nevertheless, if you just recently has a miscarriage than the creams/gels may not be the best treatment option for you. You may want to discuss with your doctor about possibly trying an "oral" treatment. Hope this helps and I'm sorry about your loss. It can be treated in one of several ways. Your doctor may prescribe pills for you to take by mouth, or a cream or gel to put in your vagina. It's important to use your medicine exactly as your doctor tells you. http://familydoctor.org/234.xml... This is an unusual choice of treatment. If the diagnosis has been confirmed by swab, I agree the usual oral antibiotic is metronidazole. Failing this I have found Betadine pessaries to be the best alternative. They are old fashioned, iodine, messy and staining. Also they have to be inserted twice daily for 2 weeks. They do however almost invariably clear up the problem. GP for more years than I care to remember When I had bv I was given oral antibiotics if the first lot did not work go back to the doctors as they will give you a different antibiotic. I get bv from using perfumed soaps etc in the bath if you have got it I would recommend that you stop using anything with perfume added to it in the bath. It was dove soap that caused my bv now all I use is simple soap. Hope this helps. |
