Is Bacterial Vaginosis infectious?

Is Bacterial Vaginosis infectious?

I googled this for you...yes it is infectious, it's an infection, and you can give it to someone if you are having unprotected sex...BUT it is treatable and cureable....read on.....

Bacterial vaginosis is a mild infection in the vagina caused by a type of bacteria (germ). The vagina normally contains a lot of "good" bacteria, called lactobacilli (say: "lack-toe bah-sil-li"), and a few other types of bacteria, called anaerobes (say: "ann-air-robes"). Too many anaerobes can cause bacterial vaginosis. We don't know why the anaerobe bacteria overgrow and cause this infection.

Bacterial vaginosis is an overgrowth of bacteria that are normally in the vagina. While it's more common in women who are sexually active, it also occurs in women who are not sexually active. It's not usually necessary for your sex partner to be treated, unless you continue to have unprotected sex while going through the treatment.

If the infection isn't treated, the bacteria may get up into the uterus or the fallopian tubes and cause more serious infections or sterility. Treating bacterial vaginosis lowers this risk. Treatment is especially important in pregnant women. Source(s): I googled it.
I think that just means a dirty bird. Wash and stay away from anyone till you clear up.
the vagina has different types of bacteria that lives in it. vacterial vaginosis is not infectious it goes away with antibiotics or vaginal creams prescribed by a physician.
any bacterial infection is infectious, by it's nature. That is why they call it INFECTION. Vaginosis simply refers to the location and effects of the bacteria attacking.
