Bacterial Vaginosis - Question for someone with experience with this or someone in healthcare? |
Why is bacterial vaginosis classified as an STD when there are many other ways to get this even if you are not currently sexually active, like by wiping incorrectly or bad diet. Can someone please clear this up for me? Soliloquy is quite incorrect...bacterial vaginosis is NOT caused by a virus, it is a BACTERIAL infection. Also it is NOT cured with creams (that's yeast infection) it is cured with ANTIBIOTICS. Vaginosis is cured by using Metronidazole Vaginal Gel, 0.75%. 5 applications at bedtime. No pills. Times have changed drastically of how to treat many womens issues, such as the mentioned. Many physicians have solutions other than using antibiotics, which in some women can cause other types of infections. It is just best to see your OB?GYN, for each womens situation is different. Many women who do use antibiotics, are faced with the delima of having to return to be treated for a yeast infection, due to the use of antibiotics. Which could result in a yeast infection. |
