Could i have gottten bacterial vaginosis from my partner?

I went to the doctor and he prescribed me Cleocin cream to be used for 7 days for bacterial vaginosis.could i have gotten it from my patner?nas is it a sexual trasmitted disease? and has anyone used cleocin?thanks.

No its a bacterial infection, its not an STD. Think about bacterial in the nature of where it usually is. If you wiped the wrong way and got the doo doo in the yah whoo maybe thats what did it. There are other ways. I'm not sure about getting it from your partner though. I had to use something like that a 1 day treatment however when I had a bacterial infection.

BV is an inbalance of bacteria in the vagina, its not a sexual disease and men dont suffer from it....its contracted from using to much soap or shower gel and creams, and especially if u douch down below (putting soap inside ur vagina), dont use femme wash and use a mild soap, ur vagina has its own bacteria that help to keep it clean so dont use to much high perfumed products down there or u will constantly suffer from it.

Yes, My doc says no, but I know my body. I was on the 7 day treatment, then went on vacation. I was away from my bf for like 3 weeks and I was fine.as soon as we got together again- I got it again. I have been broken up with him for 3 months now and I haven't had any re-occurrence. I was told by the Dr that it is not a std, but it might as well be. I have used cleo, but I find also homeopathic remedy's help. Everyday I take folic acid. 2 pills a day with low-fat cottage cheese or yogurt. I changed all my soaps, stopped wearing thongs and wear cotton panties. I know it is a major inconvenience in your life, as well as any woman's. Do a lot of research on natural remedies. Use the natural remedies as much as you can because antibiotics are not good with constant use. Have your bf get checked out just as a precaution. Good luck!

Wow there are some people here who think that men must not have bacteria on their hmm. this is a failry common bacterial overgrowth for women, you can get it from a number of things including the above stated reasons... However you can get it from your man if he just wasnt clean enough, didn't wash his hands before um, playing, etc, or 'alternative' types of sexual activities that are likely to transfer heavy bacterial loads if you aren't VERY careful (here I mean anything involving the back door or multiple partners w/out proper cleansing).
