Would biofeedback help me deal with anxiety while pregnant?

In the past I have used medication for anxiety disorder, but now I'm pregnant and that is not an option. I'm having some stress because of morning sickness, worries about losing my job, and the baby's health. I've heard biofeedback can be useful for dealing with anxiety. I'd love to hear from anyone who has tried it. Also, does insurance usually cover something like biofeedback, or would I end up paying for it myself?

I think biofeedback or something similar such as hypnosis or self-hypnosis might well be useful for you in dealing with your anxiety. I think whether insurance would cover it is determined by your insurance agreement, and I can't say generically whether it would help.

Yes it helps.

Also try writing in a journal & take yoga classes. My friend swore by these.

Not sure if you'll be covered for bio., but yoga can do @ home, buy simple yoga cd's

Yes it will. Just to clarify an earlier comment biofeedback has nothing to do with hypnosis.

I would get in touch with a good biofeedback technician, who will do an assessment for you. Some psychologists specialise in Biofeedback. If you want to go your own route there is a product from Heartmath called EmWaves this helps you regulate your heartrate and breathing thereby reducing anxiety levels. Another programme is Wild Divine's Healing Rhythms, more fun than EmWaves but has no way of saving your sessions so that you can see progress made.

Even though I said earlier that hypnosis has nothing to do with biofeedback, medical hypnosis (the proper kind not the entertainment variety) could be an option, but I would definately check that one out with a psychologist first.
