Can someone please tell me a little more about biofeedback?

I know it is a kind of drug-free therapy. I am interested in finding solutions to my problems without drugs. I am a chronic insomniac plagued with other physical problems as a result of years of my anxiety and constant worries.

Biofeedback uses special sensors and monitors that give you a visual and/or audio readout of certain vital functions; like heart rate, breathing, and blood pressure. By listening to/watching the readouts, you can learn to better control things like heart rate, breathing, and blood pressure. There are biofeedback practitioners (most are also psychotherapists) who will help you learn the skills by using a monitor, or you can buy a monitor and use it on your own. For some people with anxiety, this can be a very effective therapy that can teach you to lower your physical symptoms of anxiety, even when you are not hooked up to the monitor.
i asked on of my docs the same thing...biofeedback is making yourself lower heartrate and other things, but you need all of the moniters
Biofeedback is when you mentally regulate your bodily functions.
its also your endocrine system working together. for example people with diabetes have a problem with their endocrine feedback system. when you have to little or to much 'sugar' in your bloodstream, your body will release compounds that will raise or lower the level back to homeostasis. people with diabetes, their body cant do that, so they have to regulate it with injections.

for your particular case, I would recomend realizing that worry does have some function. It helps you mentally prepare beforehand for something. however, one needs to realize that worrying about something is only part of the solution. You will not solve any problem by worrying, without action. you need to learn to let it go. dont wtch the news either, that will only scare you. Also, use your bed for sleep only... while it may be comfy to be lazy in it, your building a bad habit. If you continually enforce the idea that you should only be in bed when your ready to sleep, that will help create a mental-biofeedback that relates sleep and your bed. if you have trouble getting to sleep, get up and read in an uprite position. reading will help get your mind off whatever your thinking about, and sitting up will make you tired.
try this for the biofeedback
