Questions for people with borderline personality disorder or bipolar disorder?

How does your disorder affect intimate relationships (both friendships and romantic relationships) with other people?

If you've ever tried them, how do recreational drugs (in particular coke, E, and weed) affect you when you have Borderline/Bipolar? It must be different than for people that don't have BDP/BPD.

Have you ever been in a relationship you didn't want to be in, or push away a relationship that you DID want to be in?

How do your emotions fluctuate? Are you depressed? Do you have bouts of anger?

If so, do you REGRET your rage towards others afterwards?

Just tell me your experiences with BDP/BPD. I'm trying to understand these disorders better.

I have a question for your question?

Why are you asking this? Are you BPD or BDP?

I do have BPD. I'm a 48 year old female.

I wouldn't know about the recreational drugs because I don't use them.
I can tell you BPD does effect every relationship in a lot of different ways.
I get very close to people and then I cut them off (push them away)
I push them away first because I can not deal with rejection. So if i push them away first I think I can avoid that before they have a chance too.
Being BPD I run on feelings. I tend to react, the chaos starts. and yes I do regret it sometimes.
I do get angry but it's usually turned on myself. I need to be angry to avoid other feelings.
I do get depressed. it's not like bi polar where you have these highs and lows.
i have never experienced a manic high.
You have to understand that Borderline Personality Disorder does not happen at birth.
it's a learned experience. there is usually pain in the past that gives BPD life.
Bpd is the way the person has learned to deal with pain , a way of coping.
Most people do not understand and tend to judge someone with BPD.
most don't even want to know about it.
Education is important especially to ones close to someone who has BPD.
Knowledge/Emapthy/Understandin... are important to someone who knows or is close to ther person with BPD .

hope this helps
any other questions I am open to them.
Bongo
Well I dont have any of those disorders, but I know someone who is bipolar, and she is always messed up on drugs, and just acts ridiculous. She threw away all her kids and two husbands, I believe. She'll be sitting at the table talking, then her head will land in her soup, and she is out like a light. I try to steer clear of her, because she pretty much irritates the hell out of me and talks in ways I can't even begin to understand.
Illegal drugs are the first thing to avoid in life. You can actually become mentally ill from using them. Drug induced psychosis is not fun to see an 18 yr old experiencing hallucinations. I was diagnosed bipolar after many years of having screaming fits and then depression. Now as I have aged, the mania has passed. I have bipolar 1 which is the lesser of the 2 types. It was very difficult for people in the psychiatric field and friends to recognize mania as I am a cancerian. Robin Williams is bipolar. We are the life of the party, often quite sexual-flirtatious. Both husbands stayed with me-they didn't realize I had a problem other than PMS. I am on an anti-depressant, mood swings, anxiety. I feel as good as I ever could. I'll never go off meds. The anxiety alone drove me nuts. LOL Certainly you know there are triggers, mine was cancer, father died and pneumonia all in half a year.
psychiatric social worker.
That is a lot of questions. I do not see the immediate co relation between therapy for BPD and BDP? As far as similiar therapies.
I have bi polar disorder.
Let's see recreational drugs. People with diseases seem to rather self medicate rather than let a doctor medicate them. My drug of choice was crank and Crown Royal. Both made me very aggressive and irritable.
Yes I was in a relationship I didnt want to be in, and it was a nightmare for my cycling.
I have also pushed very dear loved ones away. I would go through stages of not wanting to be touched.
Its very hard to go through cycling ups/downs without medication. I go through happy, manic depressive, and clinical depression several times a year. Have been hospitalized 3 times now for suicide. I dont know with anybody else but yes i go through anger fits too, and yes I regret them afterwards.
It affects work, school, love, sex, eating, sleeping, sex, dedication to anything serious.
