Above is your online screening test - if you come out positive, then you should seek medical attention. Source(s): Used to work in a Dr. office You can be evaluated for it, go to a psychiatrist my advice is to see a psychiatrist because only a psychiatrist can diagnose. Some doctors may check your brain waves to check if you have a chemical imbalance that happens when you have bipolar disorder. Most of the time a psychiatrist will work with a therapist to see if it really is bipolar disorder or a number of other things. See a doctor, but don't be disappointed if its not bipolar disorder. Bipolar sufferer for years Yes you can be tested for bipolar. How did your family know they were bipolar? You go to a physciatrist for several visits, and in those visits he/she analyzes you as you talk. My pdoc knew the first time I saw him. However, I had been talking with a therapist first, then the pdoc. If it runs in your family, you could very well inherit their bipolar disorder. However, you may not have, but maybe something else closely related. I'm beginning to learn there are other disorders that is very close to bipolar, and sometimes the symptoms over lapp each other. So only a pdoc could make this diagnosis. |
