How do people survive with bipolar disorder? |
I have it but i dont how people survive withit? There is no cure for bipolar disorder; the emphasis is on management of the symptoms. A variety of medications are used to treat bipolar disorder; many people with bipolar disorder require multiple medications (sometimes up to five). Some people with bipolar disorder add to or replace their Western medication with herbal or holistic options. Still, even with optimal medication treatment, many people with the illness have some residual symptoms. For example the medication "Abilify". You should get re-evaluated by a good doctor who specializes in the field and see if they are right for you. Many can have their symptoms completely controlled. By remembering that survival is our main purpose in life. I've known many people who lead successful happy lives with bipolar disorder, and every one of them hit a point where they didn't think they'd get through it. They didn't give up, and they learned to manage. It's like going through puberty for a very long time. Everyone else has pretty good suggestions but try this: Find a support group or message board to talk about your feelings. For example try www.gurl.com they have shout out boards specially for mental illnesses or www.webmd.com which has lots of info! Trust me- it will get better! |
