How do I get help with bipolar disorder? |
I'm not diagnosed witut me, my twin sister, and my husband agree that I have it. Currantly, I don't have health insurance to check with a doctor about it, but I'm kind of scared that I might really have it. how is it diagnosed? and what kind of help is avalible? First of all,try not to be scared, because there is help.Do not believe in peoples opinions except if they are professionals. Now the way to go about this matter of getting help is not difficult regardless of were you may live. Just follow this advice.Go to your local hospital.Once there inquire as to whom you may speak to in regards to what you feel are matters relating to your personal mental well being. From here they will have some one speak to you and you can then explain all to them, plus that of your financial situation.Believe me you will get the help you may so need. Good luck and may God bless you and Yours. If i can be of any further help you can email me personally at laup2742@sbcglobal.net Source(s): Just some one that cares The doctor will diagnose you and give you meds. Hi...I'm bipolar and I was diagnosed. The doctor reviews your history and asks you MANY! questions and goes from there. He will want to put you on medication to balance your highs and lows...you can email me if you want to talk about it more. I believe a psycologist can help you with it, and perscribe some medication to better cope on a daily basis. Since you have no insurance, try looking around to see if there is somewhere what can pay for or supplement the cost. check into your county mental health center. usually they work with your income if you dont have insurance. also im reading a book for myself that ive found very useful its called "The Bipolar Survival Guide" its by David J. Milkowitz PhD. Its really informative you can go to your book store or if they dont have it Amazon.com does. you need to talk to a doc plain and simple. there are meds you can take that will help, like antidepressants or mood stablizers. I'm bipolar and i don't do meds, its hard at times, but i get along just fine. Lots of people live with it and its not in control of their lives. Look for free services in your area, there may be a free mental health clinic, just look. Good Luck! HUGS!!!!!! |
