Are there any natural ways to deal with my bipolar disorder? |
I was recently diagnosed and I was just wondering if there were any tricks or any soothing stimulants to deter any complications that may arise over time? You could try meditation and Yoga, like the Sun Salutation, and some things like that. You should be able to get a tape or DVD in the Special Interest section of most stores that sell videos. exercise at least 45 minutes a day dont eat foods full of prewervatives try to eat healthy, like my granny would say "shop on the outer isles of the shopping store" (that way you get the fruits, veggies, dairy and fresh breads stay away from caffiene chocolate and cheese go to counseling and talk about your problems you will be fine! One Word..Prayer. I too am bipolar. Medicines help some but you asked for natural. I'm not aware of any natural products that could actually help. Bipolar is too complicated for herbs to help (my opinion). Surround yourself with good friends, good things, and always remember you're never alone. You have God. He made us the way we are for a reason. It's not are place to question why. Bipolar is not the end of your world. Now that you have a dx. you should be on the road to recovery. I know that eating fish 2-3 times a week, or directly taking fish oil pills can help. The main reason is to get omega-3 fatty acids-the healthy fat...It helps nerve conduction, which is important in the brain sending/recieving signals. Friend has bi-polar, his doc recommended it One of my best friends is bipolar, and she "loves her Lamictol..." = ) I'm happy she finally found the right drug for her... As for natural remedies, I would suggest some type of calming tea, like chamomile, or Yogi Tea Healing Formula DeTox....they have so many out there now. I myself prefer Stash chai spice decaf tea when I want to unwind. You will need meds to control the depressive episodes and mania swings, sorry, but it's unavoidable. You don't want to play around and take chances on that. The depression can get pretty bad. I was with my friend through her pre-diagnosis, diagnostic stage, psych ward admissions and after...it was scary, but she is doing so much better now. I was glad to be able to help her through it all. Find someone you can trust to help you through this time. You won't be sorry. Nope... I believe you are going to need daily meds... |
