What have been your experiences with Lamictal for treating bipolar disorder? |
What have been your experiences with Lamictal for treating bipolar disorder? i am on this, mostly for mood stabilitzation since they cannot determine if i have bipolar one disorder, i am still pretty young and it is hard to detect. good news for me is that i have been feeling alot better, compared to prozac and wellbutrin, which in turn made me angry and more suicidal. lamictal was a good choice for me, i hope it goes well for you too It's been helping me some. I am able to handle frustration quite a bit better. I've recently tacked on lithium, tho, because the lamictal wasn't enuf by itself. lamictal costs enuf, that's for sure. Lamictal definitely helps stablize my mood. I'm a lot better but I also take Lexapro, an anti-depressant. This combination works perfect for me and I've been okay for a long while. It has worked well for me. It's the first mood stablizer I tried and I'm still on it. I didn't even get any noticeable side effects from it. My doctor put me on it because it's less likely to have weight gain as a side effect than a lot of other mood stablizers. I have had a good run with Lamictal for the past (almost) two years. No weight gain, improved mood (less depression), and less anger. Now, it kinda made me get manic, so I had to start on some other meds, but it works very well, I think, and once you've been on it for a while, it seems to slow down some mood swings...like preventative medication in a way |
