How many of you believe or dont believe in bipolar disorder and why? |
How many of you believe or dont believe in bipolar disorder and why? Alright, wow. First of all I would just like to say that that is a very uneducated and outdated question. Yes, I do believe that bipolar disorder exists. I studied psychology for 4 years in college and work with troubled kids. I am also a person living with bipolar disorder. It is a genetic disease. In my case my grandfather had it. In his time it was misunderstood, which is why i say your question is outdated. it is a chemical imbalance in the brain which can not be treated without medication. in regards to someone elses answer, he said he was diagnosed with it and he found jesus and that helped. more power to him. i am spiritual as well, but it did nothing for me until i got diagnosed and got on medication. i think the disease is overdiagnosed to a point and that is why meds didn't work with him. i work with kids up to 17, many of whom are diagnosed which is ironic considering you really shouldn't be diagnosed until your 20s at the earliest. a bit more info on it. it was previously called "manic depression" because of the highs and lows. highs are manic episodes wihch include symptoms such as talking fast, racing thoughts, jumping subjects in talking, not being able to sit still, having grandious ideas, things like that. lows can range from "normal" depression symptoms to things like serious aggression, irritability, self mutilation, panic attacks, anxiety, and emotional breakdowns. from my personal experience, meds help. i don't know how it couldn't exist if the meds im on help me. i hang out with my room mate all the time and she can actually tell when i am on my meds and when i am not. we actually stopped talking for over a year because i got so bad. when we became friends again she told me what i was like before meds and i didn't even realize how bad i was until i was on meds and she was open with me about it. if you are asking this becuase you know someone with it, go easy on them. for me, i lost all my friends when i went on meds because i went from being FUN FUN FUN all the time (i would lock myself in my room during the downs, they would see the manic phases) and when i went on meds i evened out. i honestly didn't even know what "normal" was until medication. i thought the way i felt was normal. id like to know why you asked the question if you feel like answering me back. thanks. I do believe in bipolar and dated a girl who had bipolar. not sure as to why you think it is not real, would like to hear it. Forgot to add that there has been studies done of various types on the human brain to indicate that a person has this disorder. Of course if you want to know more just do a search on bipolar. I believe most people with bipolar are just have spiritual issues. I was diagnosed as bipolar and put on many different drugs but then found jesus and was fine. You cant be serious. I have bipolar disorder and it is very, very real. Bipolar disorder was created by the drug companies, as was ADD/ADHD and most other 'diseases' you see commercials for on TV. They give doctors kickbacks for selling their pills. Look at it like this, why would a doctor try to solve your problem (and lose a patient) when he could prescribe a pill which a drug rep gives him $$$ for selling you? I'm a drug rep. |
