How do you talk to your doctor about depression or bipolar disorder?

How do you talk to your doctor about depression or bipolar disorder?

Just tell them about how you feel. Tell them if anyone else in the family has depression or bipolar disorder because sometimes it runs in the family. It is important to tell your doctor though, because they can help you. My son and I both have depression, and my ex has bi-polar. We take medication and it helps a whole lot. It wasn't hard to talk to my doctor at all.
Just tell him/her straight up, he/she is your doctor and is payed good money to care about and help you when you need it.
Just talk to them. there in no stigma, and it is very important. I waited far to long. Just do it.
Tell your doctor what your symptoms are and why you think you have one of those. If you go to a family doctor who dismisses it, you might want to go to a specialist instead. Google depression or bipolar, see what the major symptoms are. Mayo Clinic's website would probably have symptoms and ideas as well.
yeah just talk to a doctor and then they probably refer you to a psychiatrist or psychologist but the doctor can help in the meantime
Be honest with your doctor and describe exactly how you are feeling. Tell him if your sleep habits have been affected, if you have lost your appetite, if you feel fatigued often and if you have lost interest in things you normally enjoy doing. Tell him/her how you feel, if anxiety accompanies it and if you see a pattern in how you feel at certain times of the day or year. All this is important in a diagnosis and medication that can help you.
Just go in there gun ho! Say, I have been feeling really down lately. I just want to get a mental evaluation. They may not do it right then and there, but you can get that appointment set up. Dr's are there to help you, so if this is what you need help with, they will help. If they can not help, they will refer you to a DR that can. I used to feel nervous about going to the DR, but I found that you shouldn't hid stuff from them. They are there to make you feel better! They get paid ALOT of money to treat you. good luck :)
