How do you feel about Britney Spears become the "Face" for Bipolar disorder?

As a person living (stabley) with the disorder, it gives ppl an overly negative idea of it I fear the genaral population thinks that somone like me will shave their head, I'm not bashing Britney for that I know she really couldn't help it at the time, but I think they should have some of the more stable ppl like the following instead..

btw did some of those people on there suprise you?

The fact is that she hasn't actually been officially diagnosed. I think it's just a last ditch grasp at attention.

I'm bipolar and she's put us years back as far as stigma goes.

Lots of cool people listed in the links.

There is still a stigma about mental health problems, but although there is growing acceptance of these issues I think public opinion is becoming wary of people looking for an excuse for bad behaviour e.g. Britney Spears is seen as someone who has made bad life choices and has a drug problem rather than someone with an actual mental health problem. Is this fair? Maybe not. Hard to say.

PS The MHT website included Spike Milligan twice
"Spike Milligan, actor, writer
Spike Mulligan, comic actor and writer"
Most people will agree that there is only one Spike Milligan!
