Do you think I could have a bipolar disorder?

I never thought about it before, but today one of my suitemates suggested that I might have a bipolar disorder. I always just thought I had ADHD, ADD, and depression.
But now that I think about it...after looking at the symptoms and taking a quiz, I think I might be bipolar. These are my symptoms.
-After achievement, I feel on top on the world...and kind of cocky.
-I'm very irritable at times. I can get angry easily.
-Often I am impulsive.
-Sometimes I'm really happy and outgoing.
-sometimes I don't want to talk to anybody and just be alone.
-sometimes I want to talk a lot.
- I get majorly depressed a lot...crying etc.
-Little things tend to annoy me.

- I am stressed often.

Ok, so I'm quietly chuckling (not at you!). Objectively read what you posted later. There's no order of magnitude save the mention of ADHD, so it really sounds like anyone. Yet, a bunch of ppl jump to definitely bipolar. There isn't enough info. Regarding online tests... they are very subjective and don't mean much. If your moods are impairing your functioning - causing problems in your relationships, school, other social activities - or if the depression is debilitating, go see a psychiatrist for an evaluation. Your school might have counselling services, and if so, they are probably the cheapest and well qualified.

My mom and brother are ADHD. Both are filled with energy from the minute they are up until the minute they conk out. When they hit the pillow, they are out for the night. Hypomania (subthreshhold mania) is different. You don't *need* much sleep. It's living on a few hours of sleep for at least four days (per MQ for diagnosis) and feeling better than just fine. That's a happy hypo. There also is when you are a little depressed and a little hypo, which is called a mixed state. That is a very aggrivated and unpleasant place. Then, of course, there is depression. There are many other ways to experience bipolar type II but these are quite common states. Hopefully, this added a little to the generic online descriptions.

It does seem like you have Bipolar Disorder. You might want to get it checked out by a psychiatrist in your area and possibly be put on medications for this. Bipolar Disorder is usually mixed with mood swings, anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder and depression. Depending on how bad your Bipolar is it will vary on what type of meds you are put on.Feel free to email if you need any more advice

First of this is not the right place to ask that question, if you really are worried about it, go to your nearest Mental health Clinic where they can evaluate you and they can solely determain if you are or if it's some other type of condition, never let yourself go by those so-called serveys/quizz

Based on what you are tellling me, sure it is possible. But I am also thinking it doesn't sound serious enough to be bipolar. Everyone can feel those ways at various points in life. Only a doctor can tell you. (In my opinion, I think a lot of people are diagnosed bipolar who really aren't.)

yup most def.. i have depression and i read a lot about bipolar and my doctor told me a lot about it. sounds like u have it. bipolar is where you go from one extreme mood to the next its and up and down roller coaster.. Try seeing someone for some medication. It should help you tremendiously

you may have Borderline personality disorder. Which i have. It's like bi polar but more severe. I would go to a doctor and talk to them if i were you. the meds are starting to work for me.

yea. my bf has bipolar disorder and u sound just like him. u need to go see a doctor. those quiz's don't always work either. if u need meds than go see a doctor who can do that.

see a good Doctor..research..If you're abusing any drugs..stop, but regardless...see a good Doctor..Now.

Bipolar is characterized with depression alternating with mania or hypomania. So some symptoms overlap with the depression diagnosis. People in the midst of depression sometimes withdrawl from others, just want to be alone. Anger and irritability can be symptoms of depression (most commonly in men, but also in women).

Generally it's very tricky to say, because I can read that you're irritable and say "yeah well everyone is sometimes" but someone who actually sat in a room with you may realize that it's to an unusual extent.

It's true that bipolar is often comorbid with ADHD (a lot of people are diagnosed with both, particularly children).

Overall though, I think you shouldn't worry yourself too much based on a short quiz, which can be kind of crap, but if it feels like 'the shoe fits' you might want to take your concern to your doctor.
