How do you reduce bipolar disorder?

Hi im sixteen and ive had noticeable bipolar disorder for about four years now. It sucks. One day ill be flying, and the next im on the verge of tears. Is there any natural way to fix this?

There is no know natural way that I can think of to help with Bi polar disorder ....

However; If you would take St. Johns wart ..it is suppose to help with depression etc ... and is a natural herb .... you can google and read about it .....

Other than that ; I'd suggest that you get to a doctor and have an evaluation done ... there are pills in varying degrees that one can take depending on the severity of the disorder.

there is no natural way to fix bi-polar disorder. its a chemical imbalance in your brain. natural things sometimes can psychologically make you think you are doing better, but you really arent.

the best thing you can do is ask for help from your family. see a psychiatrist get a proper diagnosis and get on a mood stabilizer which trust me will be a life saver. personally for me (i have bipolar) lamictal has been the best mood stabilizer and doesnt have any side effects like the older drugs such as lithium which is horrid.

I've never understood how people can lose as much control over their emotions as bi-polar individuals. I have a mother and a serious girlfriend who both suffer from the disorder. Many doctors believe medication is absolutely necessary. However, from observing the disorder in an older and younger woman I would recommend getting a psychiatrist while you are still young so you can learn how to cope with the disorder. Consult your Dr. You may very well need medication, but Bi-polar disorder is a lifetime problem and it would do you well to learn as much about it as possible and how to deal with.

nothin natural, sorry.......strict medication management and if the meds aren.t working right (which you can only know after many weeks of taking them) then its time to switch meds....

Talk to your parents. If that doesn't work, talk to a school counselor. They will set you up with a pediatric psychiatrist that will help determine the correct diagnosis and treatment. There are many possible drugs to use here. My kids use Lithium, which is a salt. It's not so bad, but you need blood tests every month. I'm using Lamictal. The plus side is no blood draws.

Don't fool around with this. You may accidentally hurt somebody if you don't get it under control.
