Can a person with bipolar disorder still get a security clearance?

I recently got diagnosed with bipolar and I work in the aerospace/defense industry. I must get a security clearance at the top secret level. What is the chance of it getting rejected assuming I am honest during my interview/polygraph?

Not sure, but I do know that if you're caught lying, you'll be bounced and the repercussions might be greater.

If there is a medical screening first, ask there. That way you can back out before it goes further.

My own guess is that as long as you are working with a doctor and responsibly managing the illness it won't be a problem. You are covered by the ADA and government is not apt to defy that unless there are clear reasons to do so. That holds for gov contractors as well.

I know a woman who told me her friend got a job at Boeing even though s/he told them before hand about the bipolar disorder. The most important thing is that it was under control. Report It

I know someone that has a high security clearance recently diagnosed with adult ADD.

that's messed up that they require you to get that !! wow ..
you probally wont be rejected as long as the illness is under control :)
