Is there a link between Eating Disorders and Bipolar Disorder?

Besides the obvious, impulsive behavior and low self esteem (as my boyfriend just pointed out to me), are there any other common links between anorexia or Bulimia and Bipolar Disorder?
really, just doing some research for my page and wanted to know opinions as well as facts

well that's an interesting question, at 51 and looking back on a life racked with binging and starvation, I always saw it as a means of control, feeling the need to control something in what usually seemed like uncontrollable or out of control situations. I was diagnosed as manic til 9 years ago after two of my brothers died unexpectedly, one from suicide. That coupled with a high stress job and a very brittle marriage brought a lot of "issues" to the surface....so now I wonder. Are possibly all bi-polars pron to eating disorders while perhaps not all suffering from eating disorders are bi-polar..very interesting.

I am bi- polar and OCD. I either binge or starve myself. I'm 51 and never had "normal" eating habits.

well I used eating disorders as an outlet for my BiPolar swings.
and yes-people who have eating disorders also generally have other mental health issues..
