If i have bipolar disorder will i still be allowed into the marine corps?

I have bipolar and i've been told by some that having bipolar is an automatice road block into the core but i've also been told by others that they would probably still take me.

does it change anything if my bipolar was unmedicated for 6 years and still running , and its a light case of the disorder? Type: Mixed bipolar if it makes a difference

Unfortunately, this is a disqualification. There are soldiers who develop this condition after they enlist as well, and they are medically discharged or "chaptered-out" of the military.

There are soldiers that enlist and do not say anything about their mental disorders and some never have any problems but then some do have serious issues because later down the road their med's are not available and they become very ill.

Bear in mind that medications are not allowed in initial entry training so anything you are currently taking you would have to either have to wean yourself off of or abruptly stop taking, which could cause serious problems.

If you ever get to a point where you are not on any med's then you would be a better candidate. I hope this helps.

honestly i'd say they wouldnt let you in because you could just turn any time. the guys arent going to want you there if you're bipolar. i wouldnt

nope. Bipolar is a PDQ with zero chance of a waiver ever. you will need to stay on medication for the rest of your life and the Marines( and every other branch, for that matter) will not accept people who require long term medication to function normally.

sorry to tell you kid but thats going to give you an automatic disqualification.. can you imagine being in iraq and not having your meds and then just freaking out..in the easiest terms you would be a danger to yourself and other soldiers.

Probably not. But you could run for president.

then you should fit in just fine with the Marines

Everybody else in there does, why not?
