Is bipolar disorder coniderbly make that person crazy?/?

or just a person depression that comes every few months and then leaves??

snoepje has basically got it right.

There are several types of Bipolar Disorder (type 1, type 2, and cyclothymia) All of them involve periods of highs (mania) and lows (depression), though it varies how depressed the person will get, how long it lasts, and where mania comes in.

I'd like to add something about mania. While most people think of it as "happy, confident", it can become more extreme leading to restlessness, recklessness, etc. If the person has severe mania, it can become "psychosis", which is what you may be thinking of when you say "crazy". Those that go into psychosis can experience auditory and visual hallucinations, but this isn't mandatory for a diagnosis.

just because someone has bipolar disorder does not mean they are crazy. i have bipolar disorder...im a severe manic...i can control myself most the time, never have i been told im nuts.

depression,anxiety,schizophrenia, bioplar...all those disorders
don't mean someone is crazy.

NO.....IF YOU GO OFF YOUR MEDS YOU WILL GO CRAZY FOR ABOUT SIX MONTHS....i SUGGEST YOU SEE A NATUALPATHIC DOCTOR AND A ORTHOMULECULAR DOCTOR.....IT IS A VITAMIN AND MINERAL DEFINCANTCY

THE PHYCAITRIST SUPPORT THE DRUG INDUSTY....AND THEY MAKE UP CONDITIONS JUST TO DRUG YOU

No it doesn't make a person crazy at all. It just means that there is a chemical in balance of some sort and should be treated accordingly......

The "diagnosis" is first of all severely abused among the practices.

No, it doesn't make someone crazy it just means that that person has large swings from manic to depressive and has a hard time finding a middle ground. This is not the fault of the person and is helped by medication which helps them find a balance.

Many people that are manic-depressive/ bipolar find a very normal life after taking medication, and find they don't need it anymore because they feel so "normal" or in control. They go off of it only to realize again that they do need it. That's what happens on the meds.

Too bad it's so wrongly diagnosed and too bad so many people live with it without the correct diagnosis.
