Bipolar disorder??

I m 20 wks pregnant.. Iv just been told i have Biolar disorder..

will i die?

Bipolar disorder is not a fatal illness. Because it is a mood disorder, suicidal thoughts can come into play but so long as you do not ignore those thoughts and seek help, you'll be safe.

You do not say who diagnosed you nor do you specify whether or not you have Bipolar I or Bipolar II disorder or how severe your condition is. It is important that your psychiatrist and OB/Gyn work closely during your pregnancy.

No, it just means you sort of have mood swings. One moment you might be happy and the next you'll be angry.

Many people have this problem and there is medication to help you deal with it.

Having bipolar means you will be challenged more than most in balancing your life. Now that you are pregnant your hormonal changes will put even more emphasis on mood swings. I have had four children and have been dealing with bipolar moods since I was 12. During pregnancy things were either really good or really bad; which is generally the case for me anyways :) I hope you have support as you will need to do this with people who love and care for you. You will not die from bipolar as long as you manage medications along with regular exercise, diet and I suggest meditation. There is often more likelihood of accidental death during a manic phase than killing yourself during depressed mood. However, everyone is an individual with all our own unique hurdles. Having connections with other moms and other people with bipolar will help immensely. Also, realize that there are alot of people with experience in coping techniques and knowledge about the disorder who are more than willing to offer advice or lend a helpful ear.

Take care. Peace

I've had bipolar for 25 years I don't think so I would check with a different doctor women go through a lot of changes and sh** I don't know why your doctor is tagging it to bipolar. It just seems weird he would contribute this to your pregnancy

Nah.
Its sort of like depression, but it goes both good and bad.
Its sort of hard to explain.
Google it.
You wont die.

While I endorse the views of chickhow...., I would suggest -please don't have negative thinking; keep yourself busy to avoid negative thinking. It's not a killer disease. You are not going to die with yr mood-swings; but simultaneously, I feel, you require some medication in addition to councelling. And you will be OK, yes OK.

All the best.

don't worry, you'll be fine. look it up, it's a disorder that gives you major mood swings, but it's manageable.

No you will not die, not from that anyway. It is better to cry out your depression than to become angry. Also don't deny love that offers itself to you. Talk to psychologist if you can afford it in any way. Let me ask you a ?. Could it be pregnancy related?
