Does anyone have any experience travelling in Canada from the UK? (especially with bipolar disorder)? |
someone i know wants to travel over land probably by train in canada. i want to help him make it as stress free as poss. he's also got back problems, so roughing it is out of the question. ideally small groups for some support would be an option,or a travelling companion.... any ideas gratefully received! cheers Hello, I`m Canadian!! I would recommend taking VIA One, I know it`s more expensive but the comfort level is wayyy better. Not to mention, these passengers are more relaxed and they keep to themselves. I`m bipolar and I would rather be alone than talk to a complete stranger for 4 days. Not to mention there are really nice sleeping quarters and the service is awesome!!I just know, when you are mentally ill, you just want to be in a stress free environment. You can`t have that when you have another passenger`s kids screaming or someone trying to squeeze in beside you. make sure that he is on a regular sleep cycle ( he will need to relax a little after the trip over and readjust) and make him take his meds . No late nights, maybe one or two, but not to 3 or 4 in the morning. Isn't he on medication? If he is emotionally fragile, then I don't recommend that he go anywhere. He needs to talk to his therapist/doctor before he travels. He needs to be stable on his medications. |
