What do you do if someone very close to you has severe bipolar disorder but refuses to get help?

This person lives with me, and has a tendency to get violent when drinking, has been diagnosed bi polar, i also have these tendencies but not as strong... i would do anything for this person, but i don't know what to do, i always end up fighting with him.

For someone who has a mental illness, getting past the denial part of it is a huge step. Keep in mind that people who are bipolar usually have self esteem issues and know deep down inside that something isn't quite right but are afraid to admit it. If your friend isn't willing to get help and he cares about you then I think you're going to have to give him a diplomtatic ultimatum. Give it to him in a way that doesn't come across as agressive or accusing or sounding like you're belittling him. It's delicate but the only other way for him to get help is by either getting himself in trouble or harming himself which isn't exactly ideal.
Good luck!
Get help for him.
Personally, I would support him in any way I could, although you feel getting him help is the best thing to do, maybe it isn't for him.

Do whatever you feel is right
Tell him to get help or else you are moving out. Save yourself before you go insane too.
Leave him alone if he doesn't want to take medication.Move out or just stop being in touch with him. It's his own choice not to take medication.Plus a bipolar shouldn't be taking alcohol it speeds up the attacks.Very normal that he acts aggressive when he drinks. If he's a young one,get in touch with his family and try to bring the family over to get him to the hospital or the doc.
thats hard I know that can be tough on anyone
