What Kind of Doctor Would Someone Go to Inorder to be treated for BIPOLAR DISORDER?

I don't know if I should go see a psychiatrist or a psychologist or my family doctor or a neurologist.....i have no clue what kind of doctor to visit to get tested for bipolarity....please help

Registered Nurse Here; A Doctor of Psychiatry, for Bipolar disorders usually require medication. After getting established with a psychiatrist, he or she may very well involve a psychologist at some point of your treatment
start with a psychiatrist
your family doc should be able to reccommend one
Go see your Primary Physician first and then he or she can recommend a professional based on your Medical History.
You would be treated properly and best by a good psychiatrist working in conjunction with your internal medicine doctor.
A psychartist is the best bet
I like a combination of Psychiatrist and psychologist, the psychiatrist will give meds, but usually does not do counseling
I would start with your family doctor. Discuss the issue with him or her and let them know what is going on and that you feel you need some attention to this problem. They will be able to recommend you to somebody in your area. I have generalized anxiety disorder and spoke to my GP - she put me in touch with a Psychologist. Good luck and good health to you!
