Anybody know if there is help out there in way of housing for someone with bipolar disorder? |
Seems like a strange question, but since it is hard for someone with bipolar disorder to hold down a job... I know someone who needs a place, is there some kind of state aide for people with this disorder?? Well first the person should look into SSI or SSD, if they go to the public assistance office near them, they would even help the person fill out forms. If they can't work and are unemployable, and they have a doctors note and support they could get SSI or SSD depending on how much they have worked and earned. While they waited they could go on public assistance and get money, food stamps, low cost housing or rent assistance, heat money and maybe even a phone (basic one no frills) bill paid. If they have a counselor or therapist then they could ask them if it was possible for a roommate or housing sorta like half way houses but not exactly, where they could live. I know it's hard for people with bipolar, my exboyfriend was bipolar and I was very supportive but since he refused to take meds and just totally went out of control, it killed our relationship, I think that's what happens to alot of couples and with friendships. They need a friend that will stick by them thick and thin and help them. Maybe you are that friend? My ex and I are still friends but not a couple anymore. He is living with another bipolar guy, they have ups and downs but it's workable. They should apply for social security disability. Try a homeless shelter they usually have social workers that can help. |
