A person diagnozed w/ schizoaffective disorder Bipolar type I stays with this illness for how long? |
I've been with this 2+ years and taking meds ever since. I heard rumors from my pharmacist she said it will just stay for a while. is this true? please show me proof. Please let me know if there will be a cure within 10 years from now that is exactly what they said i was,but through research i found the symtoms they said were schizoaffective are just bipolar.as for bipolar sorry dont know of any cures so life long.dont get down about it they tell us all the time its like finding any other illness, like high blood pressure.and it is TRUE.dont fret over the lable.the lable is not who you are.and KEEPtaking your meds.every time you stop they have up the dose or add a new drug.hope this helps try to have a merry christmas. At this time there is no cure . It stays with you for Life last time I checked. i'm sorry for you - it stinks having to take meds. i'm not sure about a cure - because your diagnosis can be treated successfully with meds - they spend more time and money on things like - AIDS, MS, etc. - you know things that can actually kill you. good luck - as long as the meds work -keep taking them - at least there is some sort of help. take care. Are they talking about your manic phases? These diagnosis don't have cures at this time but you will have periods of time when you will feel really good and be balanced and times when you feel off and can't function (manic). Your pharmacist needs to keep her opinions to herself, since she is not liscensed to diagnose people. As for a cure in ten years? I have seen the whole realm of diagnosis and treatment for mental disorders change so much in the last ten years I can't even imagine the next ten. If there isn't a cure there will at least be better treatment. |
