To anyone else suffering from bipolar disorder...here's a question for you.? |
Hi, I was diagnosed a few years back with Bipolar I. Does anyone else out there with the disorder notice that they are unusually sensitive, like for example, sensitive to criticism, and thinking people are picking on them and stuff when they are not? I'm not sure if that's a common trait with the disorder or not but was wondering if anyone else experienced that. Thanks in advance! you have to practice coping skills. mail me back if you need help Hi, yeh, I'm like that, too. I think it's common. Researchers call it being reactive or reactivity, btw. It is one of the big reasons therapy is considered an important part of treatment - to teach us how to better manage the sensitivities we have. The better we can manage our responses to stimuli and to stress hopefully the less meds we will need. It's worth it if you ask me. Sorry to sound like a commercial, but therapy has helped me to pause and assess before automatically responding. Not that I'm immune, but I can now recognize that a lot of critism is the other person's issues or lack of communication skills. I'm still more sensitive than the average bear, but it doesn't have a big effect on me anymore. yeah i am sure some go through that. I did. before I had to quit my job, not for that but for my lupus. I use to have to go to the bathroom becuase i would get so upset at what people would say to me, or a memo that was written in the staff note book, or i would feel like people were talking behind by back, or whispering about me, or talking about me when I am not there. All of which could have happened. I have bi polar tendencies, panic attacks, anxiety, and other health problems. I am getting help and that is all you can do. There is nothing to be ashamed or embarrassed about. But many people go through it. you are not alone. best of luck. My cousin Brian is like that sometimes and he just ignores the feeling and it goes away most of the time he said.If that doesn't help try talking to your doc about a change in meds.Maybe you are picking up on some form of paranoia about people or something. This can happen with people who are bipolar sometimes with time and some patience you will be just fine you just have to believe.Good luck,Sharon W. yes my wife think every one is planing against her, she her sometimes voices and has hallucination. she creates alot of arguments, she does not sleep well, she made my life like hell!!!! we r going to annul the marriage very soon, i have something like trauma becase of her I feel the same exact way, i was just diagnosted with it I'm 40 What is bipolar Ne-ways yeah, I go thru that. |
