I dont think they are helping very much.......................Tha... Have your meds reevaluated. I'm Bipolar, but I haven't had a serious depressive episode for a few years now because I finally got on the right medication. I do get hypomanic once in a while, but I have to keep a cap on that so I don't go manic way over the top (which hasn't happened for a while either. Medication is not enough for treatment of Bipolar. Please go to the nearest mental health clinic and speak with someone on this matter. You can set up appointments for counseling on how to deal with your disorder. My adult son is also Bipolar. Best wishes to you. Try learning to breath and meditate. If you are on mood stabilisers, and have been on that dosage for 5 weeks and it isn't helping much, you may need to change the dosage, or the type of medication, so I would go to my doctor ASAP about this, and also ask to be referred for counselling. Consider getting a second opinion, too. Panic attacks can be treated by breathing into a paper bag for 10 - 15 seconds, or practice the breathing method at http://deeplyrelax.com and you will be prepared (keep the paper bag on you, for "just in case"). Practice for 20 minutes daily, preferably morning, afternoon, and evening, the technique at http://www.selfhelpmagazine.com... Meditation room; try it out; mantra meditation; repeat the word: "easy", or gaze at a burning candle in a quiet, darkened room. At the same time (if you are able to): focus your attention on the feeling your breath makes at the place it enters and leaves the body, as you breathe regularly, preferably through the nose. Try Tai Chi and yoga, too. Work your way slowly up to 30 - 60 minutes of vigorous exercise, daily. Eat healthily, and keep occupied. You may find that it also helps with panic attacks to repeat "easy" in your mind, as you use either the bag or special breathing method. Take 4 fish oil supplements daily.
