Is it possible to be shy and quiet and still have bipolar disorder?

Yes you can be normally shy and quiet. However to be diagnosed with bipolar you need to have had a manic episode. This would be several days where you were of extremely high mood, very energetic, sociable, chatty, with decreased need for sleep, and really rapid thoughts and speech. You might also have manic delusions and impulsive behaviours if the mania is quite severe.

Bipolar disorder is characterised by periods of normal mood with episodes of depression and mania as described above. Though you really cant be shy and manic at the same time since they are polar opposites!

What are your other reasons for believing you are bipolar?

Many people wrongly assume someone is bipolar due to mood shifting. Truth is, you're not going to really know unless you are diagnosed by a doctor.

Calling someone bipolar has become too mainstream, and people are currupting the meaning.

Yes, except when hypo/manic. It's almost impossible for someone who is manic to keep their mouth shut when in an disinhibited elevated state with thoughts racing. Even I get motor mouth and I'm a pretty quiet, low key person by nature.
