How would a teenager go about getting disability due to bipolar disorder?

I'm 16 and will be 17 in less than a month. With going to school and then going to therapy weekly it's proven difficult for me to get a steady job. My best friend's sister told me about how she got a disability check from the government monthly.
I've been diagnosed as bipolar and have been hospitalized twice. I still live at home with my parents while my friend lives with her grandparents. My mom said that might have been a large factor in why she got disability. would me living with my parents hinder my chances? What type of requirements are necessary to be applicable for a disability check? And how do I go about applying for it?

i do need the money though. i have to pay my phone bill, car insurance, and gas money.

Dont listen to the imbeciles who are shitting on you, I know whats its liek to have a psychiatric disorder and how it makes working harder, if you can get a benefit i say take it because if the government is willing to give you money you would be foolish not to take it.

You're still a minor, living at home with your parents. It isn't necessary for you to have a steady job at this point in your life, so you really don't need a disability check to make up for lost income.

Being bipolar can be completely solved by medication and counseling... so I say either get another job or give up some stuff so you don't have so many bills.

Because you are a minor and living with your parents I doubt that the government would grant you disability.

that young and already trying to suck off the government...wow. you want a disability? try being a quadrepeligic.

i don't think you will be able to claim disability because Bipolar disorder does not prevent you from working.

If you can't work because you are oh so disabled then you shouldn't be driving.
