Can you answer a question regarding bipolar disorder?

My best friend of 35 years is bipolar. Her son and my daughter moved in together. We knew it would be a disaster as both of them are very immature. We agreed to stay out of their problem if and when they arose.
Long story short, she didn't stay out of it. She called me to tell me every detail of their falling out, accused my daughter of promiscous behavior, said her behavior reminded her of Britney Spears and other rude things. The cops were called and she took her son's side. I'm pissed. I wrote her off as a friend and she can't understand why. She blames her disorder for her behavior and says she regrets it but it was out of her control. Does this make sense?

She's been on meds for a few decades now. I'm having a hard time getting over her butting in. My loyalty lies with my children and always will.

Bi polar is a serious disorder and is rare too. Her disorder does cause her to do these things but it does not mean you have to put up with it when she is being ridiculous.

Well, if she behaves this way, I would not stress this, She has an condition that she can't help. If she does off the wall things, it is because of her condition. If she does it to intentionally hurt you, then you know that you have a problem..

It sounds very similar to what I'm going through with my bi-polar disorder.

But unlike me, has she taken any meds to control her symptoms? (I'm too drugged up as is. :0) )

Sounds more like a meddlesome mother in law than someone suffering from bipolar.

That's really messed up. You don't have to be here friend either way.

She needs to take her meds if she's losing friendships due to her disorder.

Maybe her daughter just a tramp!
